Recently, Nokia announced the expansion of its partnership with Xantaro, including next-generation fiber access, connecting more than 2 million British homes at broadband speeds of up to 10Gbps.
Nokia is providing its next-generation fiber access technology to channel partners and service integrators, Xantaro, which provides services to more than 10 alternative service providers. Taken together, these projects span the entire United Kingdom, from southwest England, parts of London, northern England to Scotland and Wales.
Alternative service provider AltNets is establishing an all-fiber deployment service in areas where broadband availability is slow or there is no available network in urban and rural environments. Nokia is supporting AltNet to use market-leading technology to further increase the broadband connection speed and fiber penetration rate in the UK, and realize GPON, XGS-PON and 25G PON in one unit. This technology enables service providers the flexibility to choose the most appropriate deployment model in each use case and provides long-term investment protection. Xantaro can also use Nokia's IP and optical solutions, as well as equipment for consumers and enterprises, to provide WiFi 6 and mesh WiFi coverage in buildings.
