China has a vast territory with numerous industries, the connections from headquarters to branches and cloud resources often have the characteristics of cross-administrative regions and cross-network hierarchies. based on this consideration, SDN northbound disaggregation and interoperability is of great significance for cross-domain and cross-vendor business interoperability in OTN networks. Since FiberHome systematically proposed the concept of "Smart Optical Network" in 2019, in the design and research and development of OTN solutions, it has strictly followed the interconnection standards discussed and formulated with various operators, providing a strong force for the current digitalization process of thousands of industries. On the one hand, through the standardized IrDI interface at the equipment level, NNI intercommunication with ODUk/VC/PKT services between networks of different manufacturers is realized, as well as the cross-vendor deployment of service interfaces, time slots, protection, and OAM. On the other hand, at the management and control level, through the standardized northbound interface, the FiberHome OTN management and control system is connected with the operator's SDN super controller, which can realize end-to-end service delivery and function adjustment with different manufacturers' networks. Quick Opening and Flexible Deployment
By supporting the rapid activation of end-to-end services and the flexible online adjustment of bandwidth, the service deployment time has been reduced from days and hours to minutes and seconds; Colleague resource verification has transformed from manual matching to automatic matching, end devices are automatically connected online without configuration, enabling the fast, end-to-end commissioning of services. The features through the entire process of commissioning the government-enterprise private line to achieve unified management and control across domains and networks.
On Demand Flexible Bandwidth
The network provides real-time or scheduled bandwidth on demand adjustment features. The network can also automatically open services and adjust bandwidth according to the bandwidth calendar, making full use of the pipeline resources of the transmission plane meanwhile responding to the burst traffic. To meet the service guarantee of peak hours and sudden demand, the speed of adjustment time is shortened from several days or hours to minutes.
Fine Control, Improved O&M
The network can automatically detect delays end-to-end in real time, breaking the barriers of delay detection inability between different vendors’ service paths. Meanwhile, the network can provide multiple with better latency choices based on delay calculation to ensure stable delay when the service is light or heavy, and meet the differences in network delay requirements of various industries. When facing customers, it can also provide differentiated SLA guarantees to enhance customer perception.
Empower industry innovation
based on the recent practice of FiberHome and various operators' government-enterprise private networks in the province, the future focus is to further open network resources and capabilities to users through AI and other means to maximize network value.
In August, Nanning, Guangxi, in order to effectively shorten the opening time of OTN services such as government-enterprise networks, while providing real-time monitoring and alerting of service status and performance, and improving customers’ perception of services. China Unicom’s Intelligent Network Innovation Center jointed Group Network Department, Cloud Network Operation Center and Guangxi Unicom, together with FiberHome and other vendors, aiming at OTN network integration and customer experience-oriented, based on the self-developed SD-OTN coordinator, successfully completed the nation’s first end-to-end cross-vendor service automatic opening pilot project in Nanning, Guangxi.
In June, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, in order to welcome the comprehensive deployment and upgrade of high-quality private lines and consolidate the network foundation. Zhejiang Mobile and FiberHome completed the VC function verification and interoperability test based on the existing OTN network with different vendors.
At present, FiberHome’s VC-OTN/POTN products have also been widely used by the three major operators, carrying high-quality private lines for industries including government affairs, finance, education, and medical care. In addition, FiberHome's ROADM/OXC and ultra-100G solutions are also commercially deployed in benchmark networks such as Guangdong Mobile, Beijing Unicom, and Guangdong Telecom.
